freighter conversion
airbus freighter conversion gmbh – a joint venture of airbus, elbe flugzeugwerke, irkut corporation and uac – was founded in 2007 to convert disused airplanes of the airbus A320 family into freighters of the type A300F and A321F. within the branch, the project is also known as "pax to freight" or "p2f".
luratec AG has been part of this project since 2008. on behalf of the russian company irkut corporation (uljanowsk), luratec has already been designing the air-conditioning pipe system for converted aircraft as well as first prototypes.
in june 2011, the p2f-project was put on hold. according to airbus, there has been a high demand on used airplanes of the type A320 in order to cope with the increasing passenger traffic. therefore the remaining number of planes suitable for conversions won’t suffice to guarantee an economically sustainable, own program.
